          Senior Swimmers Named Academic All-Americans

Letian (“Jane”) Li ‘20 and Emily (“Emmy”) Vitali ‘20 have been named Academic All-Americans by the National Interscholastic Swim Coaches Association (NISCA). In order to be a recipient of this prestigious honor, student-athletes must be graduating seniors who have lettered in their high school swim program and have met the minimum Grade Point Average of 3.750.

“This acknowledgement is one of the highest honors a student-athlete in high school can achieve,” said Head Coach Kati Eggert. “It shows a student’s dedication to her athletic program and classroom setting. It takes someone special to achieve these two things simultaneously. I’m really proud of these two students — who also served as captains — for their leadership through it all. They performed in the classroom, and they certainly performed for us in the water.”

Jane was a New England Preparatory School Athletic Council (NEPSAC) Division III qualifier in the 200-yard individual medley and the 100 backstroke. To conclude her last meet of her high school career, she medaled in the final event of the meet, the 400-yard freestyle relay, having been entered minutes before due to a teammate’s injury. Emmy, a two-year captain, also scored points for her team as a qualifier at the championship, racing in the consolation finals for both of the same individual events. Ultimately, these two captains helped lead the team to an overall second place finish at the championship meet, which hosted a dozen teams.
